Race weekend 2

Another race weekend, another chance to practice watercolor gouache for a few hours 🙂

What a beautiful day

From my paddock spot, I couldn’t see much other than trees. But it was a good opportunity for practicing green color-mixing. I picked a couple trees with subtle hue differences, and I practiced pushing their hues further from each other, to make the trees distinct within this very simple composition.

My comfy cross-legged picnic blanket setup

Color-mixing with two yellows (warm and cool) and two blues (warm and cool) can generate plenty of variation in greens, especially with the addition of white, black, and sometimes red (of course, warm and cool).

I’ve been gleefully covering my pochade box with stickers

This gouache practice turned out great, you’ve achieved a nice selection of greens.
